Guidelines, Guidelines

There are two guidelines most often used to guide asthma management today in the United States: 1) the 2007 NHLBI NAEPP EPR-3 Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Asthma and its 2020 focused update and 2) the 2021 GINA Global Strategy for Asthma Management and Prevention report. Although both guidelines provide evidence-based recommendations, the EPR and GINA guidelines take slightly different approaches to asthma classification, management, and treatment.  Which raises an important question – what guideline recommendations should we follow?
