The PrimoTinA – asthma studies are two replicate double-blind clinical trials examining the benefits of adding inhaled tiotropium to standard asthma therapies in patients who have not achieved optimal control. Our moderator and panelists explore the findings of this study and how this new information should be applied to practice.
Great review and discussion.
Great review and discussion. I agree with the panelists that I will not be routinely recommending tiotropium for patients with just asthma and no COPD until there is more evidence. I did have one asthmatic patient with a tremor that worsened with any inhaled corticosteroid, so I may have considered tiotopium for her if I had known about this study at that time.
